Falcon 9 I believe. Some of those boosters have ten or more flights now, and they stick the landings almost 100%. Say what you will about Elon Musk; he may be a raving loon, but he is one brilliant loon.
He most certainly does NOT fit the raving loon moniker.
Guy’s a frickin’ genius.
Y’aint seen nuttin’ yet.
Wait until Starship and booster fly. Waiting on the FAA to get the PEA out, then Elon’s going to launch the largest damn candle you’ve EVER seen. Gonna be EPIC.
31 Raptor 2 engines under the main booster, each engine puts out 235 metric TONS of thrust. The 29 raptor 1 engines currently on booster SN 4 each put out 185T of thrust, and all of us Texas Tank Watchers are gonna have a Giant Orgasm when that one flies for the first time. Booster 4 will return to Launch site, but land a few kilometers out in the Gulf, the Starship will go into an almost full orbit and land just off Hawaii in a Navy test range. Both Booster 4 and Ship 20 are proof-of-concept and are not expected to survive, but if they do we’ll be amazed! And China and Russia will pee their pants, because SS will be delivering 100 metric tons TO ORBIT. That’s a lot of stuff you can drop on the Chinks and Russkies, man!
The turnaround time for a booster is 3 hours, a Starship is however long it stays in orbit…
Provided we dont nuke ourselves back to the stone age in the next two months. We’re right on the cusp of getting a colony off planet….
Power
