Spent a few hours with my “little” brother yesterday trying to catch a damn fish.
Saw one caught and released across the river and that was it.
No bites, no nothing.
Still better than working and you can bet your ass I’ll be trying again.
It looks like the fish haven’t got far enough up the Columbia yet to start running up the tributaries in any numbers yet.
It’s that damn Monster drink you drink, the high caffeine content is scaring the fish away!
Hey who cares if you catch ANYthing, it’s relaxing and a real good way to watch the world go by!
Nodding off in the chair will help get a bite, waking to set the hook is the real problem.
My favorite kind of fishing; no bait! If I caught something I’d have to deal with it, and I’d rather not. Mind you, I love eating them. There are few delicacies to compare to pan fried trout over a campfire. Dust them in cornmeal, fry in leftover bacon grease: Yum!
I used to work with a guy who did just that. he had a fishing rod, reel and line
and bobber and a small lead weight. but NO HOOKS.
he said people didn’t try to talk to him when he was fishing, so he bring a couple of beers and a chair and toss his line in. he ended buying a fishing permit to stop the damn game warden from asking him about it. after he did that, they stopped giving him grief. he said it was the perfect way to unwind after work.
my uncles taught me how to fish with blasting caps in KY. as a kid
but the local hardware sold them back then. god knows what hoops you have to go thru to get them now.
I used to sit on the steps with my dog and a cup of coffee, or maybe a beer to relax.
there’s a broad, usually shallow creek, really a spur that extends off the Clackamas heading about 160 immediately east off Carver Park (we know it as Clear Creek). it then bends ’round to almost 270 after which it breaks up into several small branches/feeders. just after the sun’s below the horizon’s not a bad time unless the kids are still playing in the river; then I recommend ’bout 1/2 hr before sunrise
Your not holding your lip right. Try again.
I had a crappy summer of fishing here in Montana too. I think it was because of all of the extremely hot days that happened here.
Excellent picture.
Fish or no fish, you look relaxed. I call that a win.
It looks kind of dry there where you are fishing. You might want to try it someplace where there is some water. Fish like water.
“Fish like water.” That there wins the snarkmeister of the day award.
